OWERRI — Imo State House of Assembly has approved Governor Rochas Okorocha’s request to appoint 10 special advisers.
Although the names of the proposed special advisers were not made public at press time, it was, however, not clear if those already appointed and serving are part of the 10 approved by the lawmakers.
Vanguard recalls that those who are already serving as special advisers include Mr. Chinedu Offor (Media), Mr. Amaechi Nwoha (Legislative Matters) and soccer maestro, Nwankwo Kanu (Sports).
In a related development, two motions in support of the sacking of the 27 local government councils and review of the 10,000 job in the state suffered setbacks on the floor of the House.
Addressing the House, the member for Ikeduru constituency, Chief Sam Daddy Anyanwu, reminded his colleagues that the affected local council operators had approached the court, stressing that it would be subjudice to discuss it.
and it was quickly stepped down.
On the review of the 10,000-job offer sponsored by the member for Owerri North constituency, Dr. Dan Ikpeazu, the House bowed to the intimidating submissions of Chief Simeon Iwunze, against the motion.
The House, however, commended Okorocha for sourcing funds to clear the two months’ arrears of salary owed civil servants in the state.
Supporting the motion, the member for Obowo state constituency, Chief Celestine Ngobiwu, expressed happiness that Okorocha quickly sourced for funds to clear the arrears of salary.
Speaking also on the matter, Mrs. Eudora Igwe, representing Ideato North constituency, recalled that the governor promptly acted in line with his rescue mission agenda and enjoined him to ensure that Imo people enjoyed dividends of democracy.
