OWERRI – Scores of youths from the oil producing communities of Ohaji/Egbema,Tuesday, led a peaceful protest  to the Government House and Imo State House of Assembly, Owerri, to press home their demand for the reconstitution of the board of Imo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (ISOPADEC).

Speaking at the Government House, the leader of the youths, Mr. Okonji Temple, a lawyer, said they were not happy that the ISOPADEC board was still being managed by a caretaker management about a year after it was set up.

“We are not happy that the caretaker management of ISOPADEC should continue to exist a year after it was set up, especially when the amended ISOPADEC Law has been assented to by the Governor”, Temple fumed.

The youths condemned what they described as “the grand conspiracy against Governor Ikedi Ohakim and the Speaker, Chief Goodluck Opiah during the just concluded general elections, stressing that they will remain with the duo, even after May 29 this year.

Addressing the youths, the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Sir Okey Anyanwu, promised that the reconstitution of the ISOPADEC board will get immediate attention of the state government.

Addressing the youths at the House of Assembly, the Deputy Speaker, Sir Jonas Okeke, who stood in for the Speaker, commended their maturity and peaceful disposition in the course of putting across their grievances.
