LOKOJA-SEVEN persons were Sunday burnt to death in a ghastly auto accident at the Itobe Federal Highways in Okungboda town, Ofu Local Government Areas of Kogi State.
The accident, which occurred about 3.30p.m, involved a Toyota Camry and an 18-seater bus, completely crippled movement of vehicles on the express.
Eye-witnesses told Vanguard that the accident occurred when the driver of the bus, while trying to avoid a pothole, suspectedly had a brake failure and rammed into the on-coming Toyota Camry and subsequently went up in flames.
The Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission,FRSC, Sunday Muko, confirmed the accident, describing it as tragic.
He blamed the accident on brake failure on the part of the driver of the bus.
He advised road users against reckless driving and said however, that officials of the commission had since been drafted to the scene to restore normalcy on the road.
