Eagles donate World Cup bonus to charity

Samson Siasia yesterday maintained his 100% record as Super Eagles Coach after leading his team to a 3-0 win over Kenya’s Harambee Stars in an international friendly match decided at the Abuja National Stadium.
It was the third match that the team would play and win under his guidance. The first was against Sierra Leone in Lagos last February.
Playing with the same starting team that romped to a 4-0 smashing of Ethiopia in a 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier at the weekend, Siasia saw his side flew into an early lead when Ahmed Musa, beat goalkeeper Origi in the 4th minute after profiting from a pass from Everton forward, Victor Anichebe.
After the goal, Nigeria allowed Kenya to claw their way into the game but the visitors failed to make their possession count in front of goal. Musa threatened but goalkeeper Origi foiled his attempt. With a 4-2-4 formation, Nigeria failed to take control of the midfield as the Kenyan trio of Jamal, Mugabe and Mariga overshadowed the duo of John Mikel Obi and Joel Obi.
The first half ended 1-0 but on resumption of the play, Siasia brought in Dele Adeleye for Joseph Yobo, Solomon Okoronwo for Obinna Nsofor and Ikechukwu Uche for Peter Utaka .
The changes worked magic as Anichebe on 48 min, in a moment of brilliance , unleashed a powerful left-foot volley that caught goalkeeper Origi napping. It was a wonder strike, a masterstroke from the Everton player, who had troubled the Kenyan defence before his beautiful goal.
Ikechukwu Uche who scored a goal against Ethiopia scored yet another goal against Kenya last night to set the scanty fans singing his praise.
