Sharks of Port Harcourt have a good run when coach John Obuh took charge. But now he is away on national assignment with the Flying Eagles at the African Championship in Libya, there are fears that Sharks can not maintain the momentum.

However, coach Imama Amapabo has dismissed such fears. He said that Obuh’s absence will not take the bite out of Sharks in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL).

Imama had bragging rights after he led Sharks out to a 2-1 win over visit Kaduna United. Sharks moved up to the 5th position on the NPL standings.

“It was not an easy game especially as (Obuh) and at least eight first team players were missing. However, we were able to play one of our best games this season against a very good side,’ Imama said.

Obuh is expected to be away for awhile but Amapakabo is not worried.

“He is a great Coach but I have shown that I can handle things effectively in his absence.
What a lot of people don’t realize is that this is not the first time I am taking charge of this team and doing well.”
