ABUJA—The Coordinator of Delta Professionals, Mr. Sunny Ofili, has expressed optimism that the people of Delta State will vote former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to office again because of his track record in office.
In a press statement in Abuja yesterday, Mr Ofili, who is also Director of Technology of Uduaghan Campaign Organization, warned that the people of the state would resist any attempt to rig the re-run elections in the state under any guise.
He stated that though the ruling of the Appeal Court was disappointing, “we are not in despair. We see the call for a new election as an opportunity to finally put our political opponents who are, in fact, in the minority in Delta State to shame once and for all.
“We will once again take Dr. Uduaghan’s message of peace, security and human capital development to the people and we expect that the people will, once again, overwhelmingly re-affirm him as their chosen one. We are not bothered by this development.
“Uduaghan has written his name and that of his administration in stone. Our state has witnessed unparalleled development in the very short time he has spent in office.
Deltans want progress and will definitely express this at the polls by voting for him again. Because he has performed beyond all expectations we are confident that the good people of Delta State will come out in their numbers to show their support for him by voting massively for him.
“While I have not had the benefit of reading the transcript of this judgment, my guess is that it may have hinged on some legal technicalities and has nothing to do with the massive support Dr. Uduaghan enjoys in Delta State,” he added.
