Lagos State set for artisan week

LAGOS—THE Lagos State Government said, yesterday, it was prepared to host the first ever Tradesmen and Artisan week between May 12 and 13, 2010.
Speaking at the stake-holders meeting at Alausa, Ikeja, the state Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Adeniyi Oyemade, said the event was taken with high premium because of the importance of the informal sector as the bedrock of the State economy.

Oyemade noted that the occasion would also be used to showcase the contribution of the sector, proffer solutions and create interactions amongst stake-holders including the government.

While thanking the Artisans and Tradesmen for their attendance, which he said was highly impressive, Oyemade said the state governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, would declare the week open on May 13, he implored the Associations to mobilize their members to the week.
