Stop distracting Fashola, says Group

As Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State marks his 1000 days in office today, a group of patriotic citizens of the state has called on those described as disgruntled and faceless people to stop distracting the governor from continuing his good works, through frivolous and baseless allegations.

On the platform of The New Face of Lagos, the group in a statement in Lagos, weekend, jointly signed by Mr. Tokunbo King, Publicity Secretary and Mr. Adeniyi Benson, executive member said it was genuinely committed to the steady progress the state had been witnessing under the able leadership of Governor Fashola which some misguided people were bent on truncating through falsehood and political rascality.

The statement referred to a recently published advertorial in which a group known as The True Face of Lagos accused the Governor of sundry financial malpractices through award of contracts as well as the state House of Assembly members of collecting M20 million each as inducement from the executive, but which surprisingly this same group had in a U-turn admitted the allegation made against the House of Assembly could not be substantiated and as such was being withdrawn with an unreserved apology to the Honourable House.

In a swift reaction, the pro-Fashola group in their statement said it was disheartening to note that this group of shameless and confused people could within a short space of time expose their utter mischief by withdrawing the bogus allegation of gratification made against the state House of Assembly and which had already become a subject of litigation and investigation and still held on to other baseless allegations made against Governor Fashola.
