ABUJA—Future Nigerian Group, a pro Yar’Adua group yesterday stormed the National Assembly in solidarity with ailing President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, whose absence from the country on account of ill-health clocks 76 days today.
The groups had held a prayer session in Abuja for the President, before they matched to the National Assembly to hand over their letter of support to both the Senate President, Senator David Mark and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole.
The leader of the group, Mr. Emeka Okoroji who led the demonstrators to the National Assembly said the lingering crisis of succession over the president must not be allowed to slide into anarchy.
Okoroji said the pro Yar’Adua’s demonstration embarked upon by members of his group was a sacrifice meant to ensure that governance was held together in the absence of the President, and the interest of democracy, stressing that the task of keeping Nigeria together has never been the exclusive preserve of anyone but that of the generality of Nigerians.
