Home-based Eagles stranded in Abuja

By Fidelis Ebu, Abuj
Shame! Players invited by the Nigeria Football Federation last week arrived Abuja to begin camping for the 2nd edition of the CAF African Nations Championship slated to hold in Sudan next year, but were abandoned as they were seen loitering around the Federal Capital Territory.

Some of the players were seen yesterday loitering at the NFF secretariat after they were denied accommodation by the hotel where they were supposed to camp.

The players have, however, been demanding for their fares back to their different bases as the football house only yesterday released another list of players who are expected to begin camping on January 18, baring any other change of gear.

Some of the players stated that “Domonic Iorfa just came in the morning and ordered that the old list be disregarded and true to type, he went ahead to draw a fresh list which excluded seven of the first set of players”.

The players that were duly invited by the NFF had arrived Abuja for the camp which was supposed to open yesterday at the FIFA Goal Project Centre, but were denied entry into the reserved campsite.
