Amodu effects changes in Eagles

By Onochie Anibeze
In the past, Daniel Amokachi led other assistants in Fatai Amoo and Alloy Agu in training the Eagles while Shaibu Amodu played supervisory role and also had his way on tactical play of the Green Eagles.

EaglesBut since the past one week when the team started camping in Durban, South Africa, Amodu took charge of training although the assistants have been very prominent in their activities.

And Amodu’s emphasis, since imposing himself in training, has been on short passes and quick moves, the attributes Sports Vanguard has repeatedly pointed as lacking in the Eagles.

How far he has been able to effect any change will manifest tomorrow when they play their first match against Egypt, the defending champions.

“We have been doing a lot of tactical training, a lot of short and quick moves,” media coordinator Idah Peterside said from their hotel last night.

“We have trained well. Expect some changes in our game. Amodu took charge this time. He took absolute control of training and the players have been responding well. I think that we are ready for Egypt.

The first match is always important. Egyptians are close to us here. They have been boastful but we are calm and hopeful. We met during a security meeting and they cracked jokes too.”
