Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRIAI) has advised the Federal Government to find solutions to the many problems militating the growth and development of the economy, citing instances on the ever mounting political, economical and social challenges amongst others.
The association gave the advice during its second quarterly sectoral council meeting at the Federal Institute of Industrial Research (FIIRO), Oshodi, Lagos, Wednesday.
In a keynote address, Director-General, FIIRO, Dr. O.Olatunji, said FIIRO had experienced a tremendous transformations at the level of institutional evolving and infrastructural upgrades.
According to him, â€œthere is no doubt that for us as a nation, our collective experience over the years in terms of the ever mounting political, economic and social challenges are obviously enormous and there is no doubt that the national challenges have also rubbed off on national institutions which our research institutes form integral part. But we must not fail to exploit the collective bargaining option in addressing the nationâ€™s problems so as to achieve industrial harmony.â€
Also on the occasion, President General, SSAUTHRIAI Chief J. B. Ugochukwu, said the negative effect of the lingering industrial dispute between the Federal Government and Trade Unions in the education sector on the present and future development of our youths will be unquantifiable.
