GOVERNOR Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State yesterday made public the position of the state finances, revealing that the immediate administration of Dr Olusegun Agagu left N117billion debt for his administration.

This brings the number of the tribunal so reconstituted for the district to four.
Following the development, the chief judge, while reconstituting the latest tribunal, headed by Justice Dorubo Narebor, made it clear that her office would no longer tolerate any petition against the tribunal, noting that those appointed were men and women of honour and integrity.

The Appeal Court had ordered for a re-run election in Akoko Edo constituency 1 after it declared that no election took place in the area during the April 14, 2007 , House of Assembly election. and ordered he withdrawal of the certificate of return earlier issued to the PDP candidate, Mr Anslem Agbabi.

THE Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has pledged continued support for security agencies, especially the Police in the area of addressing security concern in the state. This was the statement of Mr. Arthur Worrey, Executive Secretary, Lagos State Security Trust Fund at the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the agency and the CLEEN Foundation in Lagos, yesterday.

Presenting the items, the district grand master of Nigeria, Chief Adonye Anye Ibiama, said the donation was in fulfillment of the group’s tenets which was to carry out charity work so as to assist the needy in the society.

THE management of Addax Petroleum Nigeria Limited and workers of the company have resolved their protracted disagreement over severance benefits following the acqusition of the company by a Chinese company, Sinopec, bringing normalcy back to the company.

The plaintiffs and applicants, who are state chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Obi Modestus Nwaka, secretary, Chief. A.E Ogbonna Igwe and publicity secretary, Chief kingsley Maduka, had dragged another Igbo leader, Chief Cyril Anichebe, and the then Ohanaeze president to court to set aside the purported election.

Additional nine bodies of victims of last Friday’s boat mishap in Ikorodu area of Lagos have been recovered, bringing the total number of recovered bodies to 14, with six persons still missing. Among those recovered were two children whose ages were placed between 11 and 12 years.

OIL and gas industry operators, particularly the engineering and fabrication sub-sector have lamented the seeming dearth of projects to sustain their operations, noting there is the risk most yards in the country may shut down and lay off staff next year if no jobs are forthcoming anytime soon.
