The Kwara State Government hasÂ Â Â offered assurances of safety and memorable experience to all the teams, fans and scouts that will be in Ilorin for the 2009 Glo Super 4 tournament.
Mohammed Zakari, the state commissioner for Sports gave the assurance to the organising committee for the tournament, noting that the state accepted to host the event as part of the strategy to make Ilorin a sports destination in the country.
â€œThe acceptance to host the Glo Super 4 is part of an integrated strategy to make this state capital a football destination. This commenced with the establishment of our world class soccer academy, the support for Kwara United to return to the Globacom Premier League and most recently, the hosting of former Chelsea coach, Jose Maurinho. The Glo Super 4 is the biggest domestic pre-season tournament and we are honoured to play host to the best of the Globacom Premier Leagueâ€, Zakari stated.
Zakari, who was formerly the Chairman of Kwara United said the state will benefit from the tournament as it will offer players and officials of Kwara United an opportunity to have a first hand assessment of the top teams in the Globacom Premier League.
The Glo Super 4 kicks off on August 18 at the Ilorin Township Stadium with Bayelsa United, Heartland FC, Enyimba International and Warri Wolves battling for the N3M top prize.
