IJAW Youth Council (IYC), Western zone, yesterday asked the federal government to drop the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) because it will mortgage the future of all Ijaw/Niger-Delta people.

The Federal Ministry of Finance, yesterday warned members of the public to be wary of con men who use the name of the minister, Dr. Mansur Muhtar, for advance fee for contracts.

The lingering face-off between Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Garba Gadi and Governor Isa Yuguda over the blunt refusal of the deputy to decamp with the governor to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, came to a climax with the impeachment of Garba by the State House of Assembly.

The association in a statement, signed by the national president, Oboidhe Benedith, said it was unbecoming of the Minister to describe the agitation as uncalled for, adding, “You (Orubebe) should be informed that little by little, another un-expected anti-Niger Delta proposal would have been submitted to the federal executive council for approval in no time by the Kaduna indigene, Petroleum Minister, Dr. Rilwanu Lukman and it would have been approved by all the ministers without serious consideration of the long span effects on other regions if not for the alertness of the governors”.

OWING to acts of vandalism on the Utorogu pipeline, gas supply to the 1320 Megawatts (MW) Egbin thermal power station and others have been disrupted, causing the national grid to lose 1000 Megawatts (MW) of electricity generation.
