Kaduna – The Federal Ministry of Works and Housing said, yesterday, that the Kaduna River bridge was safe for motorists.
Speaking in Kaduna, the Federal Controller of Works, Mr Mobolaji Fowler, said the 30-year-old bridge would be safe for motorists for the next 20 years. Fowler made the clarification following speculations that the bridge was weak.
He said a visualisation inspection had been carried out on the bridge by a team of engineers following the speculations. He said the visualisation report had indicated that the bridge would be safe for the next 20 years.
Fowler said, however, the only problem identified during the inspection was on the “walkwaysâ€, which slabs were removed by a major GSM service provider.
“Some slabs removed by the company have been loosely replaced,†he said, adding, “this is the major cause of vibration on the bridge.â€
He said the company had been directed to repair the potions causing the vibration.
