Harris Stratex, ValuCard, ZoomMobile Support Telecom/Device Forum

Top companies in Nigeria’s information and communications technologies (ICTs) industry have lent their weight to the  meeting of stakeholders tagged The Telecom/Device Forum .

The forum is being organised by Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and Communication Week Media, publishers of Nigeria CommunicationsWeek.

According to the organisers, leading supporters of the event include Harris Stratex, Valucard, ZoomMobile, eTransact , IHS and Galaxy Wireless among others

The companies, all frontrunners in their respective fields will join the leadership of the NCC, Nigeria Interbank Settlement System and top government functionaries to present valid forecasts of developments in the telecom industry and examine the driving forces behind these developments especially in e-payment and emerging technologies.

The theme of the forum is “Telecom Industry Fuelling the Future of e-Payment System” and it is designed to give both the layperson and the professional an update of emerging technologies, e-payment and handheld devices and related business trends and events.

Harris Stratex, the global provider of end-to-end solutions for mobility and fixed network applications will demonstrate how it is supporting those applications with comprehensive network management software, energy-efficient site infrastructure and world-class professional services and how that is fuelling development in the telecom industry.

eTranzact, the first online real-time payment system that allows account holders to pay for goods and services purchased from merchants, transfer funds to any bank account, cell phone, any card, pay bills and order products without stress will also showcase its various solutions and channels available to cardholders to transact their businesses.

Reuben Mouka, head public affairs of the NCC, said that the forum is designed to bring key actors in the industry meet, discuss, suggest and chart a roadmap for the future of communications industry in Nigeria .

According to him, Nigeria is witnessing a telecom revolution, which has resulted in impressive growth of landline and mobile connections.
“The sweeping revolution has continued to impact on all facets of the national economy. As a matter of fact, there is no sector that does not rely on telecommunications one way or the other” he said

Ken Nwogbo, editor, Nigeria CommunicationsWeek said that the meeting will include regulators, top government functionaries, bankers, major switching companies, device manufacturers and suppliers, network operators, software vendors, distributors and retailers, as well as internet service providers, media, broadcasters and the general public .
