…as management promises to do better

ABUJA-THE parents and students of Africa International College (AIC), Abuja, have hailed management and staff over academic performance in recent external examinations.

The commendation was made in regards to the steady rise in ranking of the college for its performance in external examinations, which reflects on high scores made by students since 2013 including the recent West African Examination Council (WAEC) and Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations.

Speaking on the development, spokesman of the school, Mr Adekunle Bamigbala, said parents and students have been cooperating and committed to success, and added that the school will not relent to sustain its current success.

The school’s graduation ceremony holding on Saturday, July 22, 2017, which is an annual activity in the college showcase students who are stars in the making to their parents and the world, as the college’s entrance exams holds on August 5, 2017.

Bamigbala said, “We appreciate the commendation by our esteemed parents and students over our effort and impact made on their future. We see them as very dear because we are out to mould the future of these young ones to enable them contribute and add value to national development and become sustainers of their parents.”

According to him, “Our theme for the year inspired the faculty to do very well. We were happy to see a report from the WAEC naming the top thousand schools on the 2013/14 WAEC Examination. AIC was listed as number 659 on the list. There were only a handful of schools from Abuja on the list. This set a precedent for us. We were happy that the 2014/15 WAEC scores were even higher and we anticipate seeing another list of the top thousand soon.

“We were also blessed when we received the JAMB scores, one of our students, Soludo Ozioma, received a score of 284, the highest score received at AIC up to that point. We thank the Lord for His grace. Our PTFF President, Dr. Momoh challenged us to go higher every year.

“The year 2015/16 was quite challenging. Problems with the administration of the JAMB caused protests nationwide and our results didn’t seem accurate. Our worry turned to rejoice when we received the results of the 2015/16 WAEC. Again, they were the highest scores ever received at AIC.

Two students in particular stood out, Nzogbu Ahunnaya, received all A1s and on B2, while Nnawuogo Chika received all A1s. This was a feat never before accomplished at AIC.

He stated further that the 2016/17 has been very fruitful term and the Lord has truly poured out His blessing upon AIC, and we call it a year of boundless grace for excellence. Our students’ score was between 211 and 297. We were very pleased to see the score of 297 for Nnodu Chizulum.

This is the highest score ever received here at AIC. Adding that she also registered and wrote the SAT exam in February and scored 1, 350 points, which was the highest score ever recorded by the school, and that placed her among the top 10 per cent of all students testing on the SAT across the world.”

Bamigbala added that the results for the Cowbell Mathematics Competition for the FCT one of its students, Oni Tomiwa, emerged first with score of 98 points. Meanwhile, another student, Adetoun Favour, scored 1, 460 points in SAT exam, and placed him in the top 3 per cent of students who sat for the exam, granting him admission in any university in the United States of America, USA, with scholarship.
