Magistrate kidnapped in Delta

UGHELLI – THE security situation in Ughelli, Delta State, heightened last Sunday, following the kidnap of a Grade One Chief Magistrate, Mr. Obomejero Aforkeya, at Iwhrekpokpor in Ughelli metropolis.

Aforkeya, Vanguard gathered, was kidnapped at about 6:30pm at the entrance of his residence in  F. O. Owho Street, Iwhrekpokpor-Ughelli by unidentified gunmen who laid siege to his residence.

A dependable source close to the family told Vanguard that the magistrate, who works in Oleh Magisterial district, Isoko South Local Government Area of the state, was driven off to an unknown destination in his official Honda Civic IVI TEC car.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, said the abductors, numbering over four, came in a Toyota Camry car, adding that the family was yet to establish contact with the kidnappers.

Another source close to the leadership of the Magistrates Association of Nigeria, MAN, Delta State chapter, who also pleaded anonymity, said that magistrate courts in the state might not sit, pending when their colleague was freed by his abductors.
