Despite losing some of his key supporters to the Ahmed Makarfi led Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former chairman Ali Modu Sheriff remained defiant as he insisted that he has not reached agreement with anybody to relinquish his position as chairman of the party.

The Federal High Court sitting in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, last week, ruled that the process that led to the setting up of the Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at its last national convention was in accordance with the provisions of the constitution of the party. By the judgment, the court had, according to some observers, conferred legitimacy on the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee which is in a contest with the former Chairman of the PDP, Ali Modu Sheriff, and his group who equally laid claim to the leadership of the party.

Edo State Chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, has been advised to look inward and put its house in order and stop blaming Governor Adams Oshiomhole for its self-inflicted woes ahead of the September 10th governorship election.

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has hailed the judgment of a Federal High Court, sitting in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, which affirmed the appointment of the Senator Ahmed Markafi led National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying “the judgment has resolved all issues concerning the leadership of the PDP and all genuine lovers of the party must now sheath their swords and support the National Caretaker Committee in the overall interest of the party.”

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP, in Osun State has described President Muhammad Buhari administration’s war against corruption of as an attempt to weaken the opposition before the 2019 elections and that if Buhari’s government must probe where Fayose and Omisore got their governorship campaign funds from, then same should be done to Aregbesola, Oshiomole and Fayemi.
