FG begins construction of dykes to prevent flooding – Official
The Federal Government has commenced the construction of dykes to protect the nation’s river bodies and minimise risks that could arise from flooding.
Flood: We’ll dredge Anwai, Amilimocha River— Okowa
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, yesterday, said the Anwai River and Amilimocha Stream in Asaba will be fully dredged to accommodate water that will empty into them from the on-going massive storm drainages being constructed in the state capital.
FG/NEWMAP install flood-warning system in 10 states
THE Ministry of Environment in collaboration with the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project, NEWMAP, has installed Automated Flood Early Warning System, AFEWS, in 10 states for early warning signal to communities living along the coastal/riverine plains.

To control effects of flood water on Deltans, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has said the state government will spend more than N30 billion for construction of storm drains.
According to the Governor, the amount would take care of eight storm drainage channels including their discharge points.
