The Senate has urged Northerners living in the southern part of the country to always be united and support the communities they are residing in to promote peace, national unity, and development. 

The Service Chiefs were in the hallowed chamber at 12.37 pm, and the Senate entered into a closed-door session to discuss with the Service Chiefs at 12.49 pm following a motion by Opeyemi Bamidele and supported by Abba Moro.

They were subsequently led to their respective seats after the swearing-in.

Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, says reverting to direct statutory allocations to local governments will stop unnecessary interference by state governors in the affairs of local councils in Nigeria.

`The Senate has asked the Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, withhold statutory allocations to local government councils not democratically elected using Caretaker Committee Chairmen.`
