On Wednesday, May 30, 2018, I slipped out of Nigeria. Where to? Beijing, in China, to attend an international seminar on National Governance for Presidential Advisers from Developing Countries.

To my dismay, I woke up on Friday the 1st of June 2018 to find out that President Buhari, who is meant to be on a Ramadan fast, had released a statement, through the Presidency’s Twitter handle, alleging that the Jonathan government, which created the Sovereign Wealth Fund in 2012, had failed to save money in the fund after the initial $1 billion deposit it made into it. 

The security challenges in some parts of the country continues to be a source of concern to all Nigerians, as it should well be. The Buhari/Osinbajo administration is however not resting on its oars as it employs various strategies of containment. Given the resources available to government, Buhari and his regime should be able to do their homework and provide Nigerians with concrete evidence and documentary proof of their claims

June 9, 2018 is the second anniversary of the unjust retirement of 38 senior army officers by Gens Buratai and Dan-All.  Both  presided over a  sitting of the Army Council and retired the officers over unfounded and unproven claims of alleged partisanship in the 2015 General Elections and alleged involvement in the defence contract scam at the National Security Adviser’s office without granting anyone fair hearing. One of the 38, Lt. Col. Baba-Ochankpa has since died in his sleep, leaving a widow and three beautiful kids.
