When we wrote much earlier that the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party was a coalition of strange bedfellows and a one-chance special purpose vehicle to get rid of President Goodluck Jonathan by all and any means possible, we were accused of sour grapes. When we argued even much earlier that Nigeria’s Presidential seat of power was jinxed and that there was and there is a spiritual side to power and politics in Nigeria, we were asked to shut up. The new power brokers were so much at home with their taken authority they boasted that no demons could touch them and that they were so self-secure, they were even snoring inside the Villa. Al- hamdulillahi, they have been snoring since then.

That Nigeria is proclaimed the giant of Africa is trite. It is a slogan which has reigned for decades.  But in the last two decades, or more,  Nigeria, the pride of Africa has been  ludicrously derided and  despised  with various derogative sobriquets’, as “leaping, sleeping or  crawling  giant” of Africa.

In one of those instances of fuel scarcity in Lagos State, I drove to a fuel station, and, like the other motorists, parked my car in the line for petrol. In a more sane society, motorists will sit in their cars, and inch their way up, as the line moves, to the fuel pump and buy petrol. But because of our general distrust of the Nigerian system, we, of course, doubted that the pump attendants will impartially dispense fuel on the basis of first come first serve.

Are they feeding dragons and dinosaurs? If they need this huge amount to feed just dogs and horses what would be used for the welfare of the citizens of this country. If this huge amount would be wasted on just animals in the name of security, then the voting system should be changed. People should be allowed to vote online or through text messages from the comfort of their homes. The 317million should be put to better use.

On October 29, 2014, Muhammadu Buhari, while commenting on the defection of the then Speaker of the House of Representatives said, ‪“I will like to thank Aminu Tambuwal for what he did yesterday (defecting from PDP). Taking such a remarkable risk and sending everybody on holidays till December is an achievement”.

PRESIDENT  Muhammadu Buhari, who went into the 2015 presidential election on the crest of a countrywide approbation as a man of integrity, could not have come better recommended by Nigerians for the task of clearing the nation’s Augean stables.

Let our leaders and the citizens begin to see Nigeria as a nation of one people with one interest, that our all-embracing cardinal focus should be our national interest

There is a joke trending in the wake of the defections of lawmakers elected on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The joke is to the effect that not much was heard about the so-called killer herdsmen in the week of defections because those sponsoring the assassins were busy relocating their stuffs from the APC to the PDP.

The Presidential Amnesty Programme is obviously proving critics wrong with the gains it has continued to record in line with its mandate.
