Dapo Adelugba was a theatre teacher and professor of professors, and called the Daodu of Nigerian theatre, he touched many lives when he was alive and even in death he is still remembered. And that was why the members of the ‘theatre community’ held a post humus seminar to celebrate the late professor’s 76th birthday.

One of the lines of the Nigeria National anthem reads, “ The labours of our heroes past shall never be in vain.” It was in realisation of this important statement, that the family of Late doyen of Nigeria theatre, Hubert Ogunde after many years of neglect and abandonment occasioned by many factors rose up to immortalize him with the opening of a museum in his country home, Ososa in Ogun State.

The Imota kingdom in Ikorodu, Lagos State, was amidst drumming and dancing recently as the ancient town celebrated the Osi Oba and Barifon festival which is celebrated once in three years. The custodian of the community’s culture, Oba Ajibade Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota Kingdom who was in high spirit all through the celebration, spoke to Vanguard about the festival and its relevance to the people of Imota.

Notable Nigerians, including the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ade Ipaye, two time minister, Mr Dein Ajumogobia, and other legal practitioners and law teachers of University of Lagos, Akoka among others has commended Prof. Joseph Abugu for his giant strides in the field of law in Nigeria

The Etisalat Prize For Literature which was initiated in 2013, is about to canonise yet another laureate as the 2nd winner of the Pan African Prize which honours début fiction writers across Africa.
