A United States team spearheaded by Caeleb Dressel stormed to the men’s 4x100m Olympic relay gold medal ahead of Australia on Saturday.

Australia swam the second fastest time in history on Saturday to clinch the women’s 4x100m freestyle gold medal ahead of the United States at the Olympics.

Nadal, the winner of Olympic singles gold in 2008 and doubles eight years later in Rio, had his right thigh bandaged, the legacy of an injury which could yet torpedo his singles hopes where old rival Novak Djokovic looms as a second round opponent.

The ruling is a hammer blow to Canada’s hopes of defending the Olympic title they won at the Tokyo Games three years ago.
