Digital infrastructure company, Equinix has declared intention to open a $22 million high performance data center in Lagos, to support global connectivity to West Africa with Equinix Fabric.

The RoW charge — a fee paid by telecom operators to lay fibre-optic cables across public spaces — remains one of the biggest obstacles to broadband expansion in Nigeria.

Telecom Operators in the country have cautioned the National Assembly, NASS, to ensure that grey areas which may kill the transformative ideas behind the new National Digital Economy and E-Governance Bill, 2025 are properly aligned before passing it, else it will scare rather than attract investors into the country.
