If 25-year-old Emmanuel Nkwogba, who hails from Imo State, had known that going to work on the night of May 28, 2013 will cost him his life, he would have stayed at home with his family. But just as nobody knows the day or the hour of his death, he went to work and heeded the great call of all mortals.

Following perennial flooding at Iyana Ejigbo junction along the Isolo-Egbe Road, in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, LCDA, of Lagos State, the Ministry of the Environment has concluded plans to embark on immediate de-flooding of the area.

When the Plateau State Government banned the operation of commercial motorcycles, otherwise known as ‘Okada’, in the Jos-Bukuru metropolis sometime back, there were mixed reactions to the ban. While there are those who felt the ban would compound the difficulty of commuters who had depended on them for ease of movement, many other residents heaved a sigh of relief for various reasons, principal among which was because of the negative use to which the bikes were being put by criminals and miscreants.

AS far as residents of Ejigbo, Ikotun and other communities in old Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State are concerned, the government headed by Babatunde Fashola has been most unfair to them with respect to the provision of infrastructural facilities, especially roads.

Barely a year after the Lagos State Government prohibited the operations of commercial motorcycles on 475 roads and bridges in the state, it has also outlawed the operations of commercial tricycles popularly called Keke Marwa on major roads across the state.
