EKWULOBIA—THEY are children born with one deformity or the other especially on their lips or palate. These children are born with the congenital abnormality of cleft lips and cleft palates. Often times, it brings confusion in marriages as accusing fingers go in wrong directions.
Parents of such children are always worried and often times, they would not afford the cost of surgery and the children grow up with such deformity.

FIVE hundred patients of Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis, MDR-TB, are to benefit from quality assured 2nd Line Drugs, valued at US$1.42 million being procured by the Federal government of Nigeria. The 2nd line drugs, will be delivered by Stop TB Partnership’s Global Drug Facility begining June 2015. Drug resistant tuberculosis, DR-TB, also known as drug resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis is a public health threat globally. Drug resistance occurs when drug-susceptible TB patients do not receive the correct treatment regimens or do not complete the full course of treatment.

Lagos State Council on Health has announced plans to launch a comprehensive and sustained social mobilisation campaign for health insurance with a view to promoting universal health coverage in the state. The Council met recently in Lagos to showcase the progress made in the State Health Sector over the last seven years while identifying areas for consolidation and intervention in the sector.
