Nigeria is one of the countries that should attach special significance to the #NotATarget campaign. The Boko Haram conflict in the North East alone accounts for Africa’s largest displaced persons population which was put at 3.3 million by the end of 2015. Most of them live in Internally-Displaced  Persons, IDP, camps while a sizeable number squatted with relations.

Only on 11th May this year, the Port Harcourt High Court complex in the Rivers State capital was attacked by a faction of a major political party over issues pending in the courts. In video footages widely broadcast on the social media, armed hoodlums were seen turning the complex into a “war” zone. Many judiciary workers were injured, facilities destroyed and court records vandalised.

Over the years, we have shouted ourselves hoarse over the precarious situation of the Apapa ports infrastructure and the attendant traffic chaos. Unless efforts being made to address them begin to yield results the effects will be felt in the economy.
