Bring Back Our Girls!
The ease with which this monster makes his audacious pronouncements is horrific and alarming that such rag tag army have held the people of Nigeria for so long to ransom. The Chairman of the forum and Governor of Niger, Dr Babangida Aliyu, spoke to the U.S. officials that the April 14 abduction happened in a part of the country “where up till today we still beg parents to bring their children to school.
Bring back our daughters
here is a saying that “a society is measured by the way it treats its weakest members”. In the eyes of the world, Nigerian society lacks compassion in the way we treat our young and the vulnerable.
There is only one Truth
“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it–always.” — Mahatma Gandhi
Do we care?
“There are things that I love – when mankind works together – helps each other – learns from each other – teaches each other – cries for one another – laughs with one another – builds with one another – heals one another – entertains one another – worships with one another. The unity of mankind. There is nothing so glorious.”
See how we lost our humanity
Where do you begin? They say, it does not rain but pours. In Nigeria, the misery keeps pouring down in buckets. And when you think that you have seen or heard the zenith of all the depravities meted by Nigerians to fellow Nigerians, then the mother of all depravity comes along and overshadows the last.
The young have a wasted future in Nigeria
“We are forced to fall back on fatalism as an explanation of irrational events (that is to say, events the reasonableness of which we do not understand).” — Leo Tolstoy
Educating Nigerian girls would transform our nation
This is one of my favourite quotes and one that holds true today and in every aspects of driving growth and progress for women and men around the globe. Sadly, this maxim is one that many governments, including Nigeria, have not striven to achieve. Last Saturday, March 8th marked the International Women’s Day.
Song and Dance
Modern Nigeria came into being one hundred years ago, so it was with the amalgamation of the Northern and Southern Protectorates of the former British colony. Stay with me now. One hundred years ago there was a merger, that long ago but fast forward today the south/north divide remain divided and has not changed for the better. It is in fact a gulf and in the midst of paranoia and distrust on all sides.
See no evil, hear no evil
What will it take for the government to act and cleanse the nation of these cold blooded killers who are attacking, abducting, maiming and killing at will? What will it take the government to throw in the towel and admit they are powerless and clueless to stem the frequencies of the killing of innocent people, young defenseless students and teachers going about their normal business? How can we let terror reign unabated and we have our government peddling empty, meaningless and unconvincing sound bites?
Brown is the new White
Say it loud, I am black and proud;sang James Brown. The song carried so much weight and when you sang the song, you believed it. It meant so much to hear that when I was growing up. It was a time when race and colour was wrestled out of the hands of those who systematically defiled and oppressed the whole black race and wrote us off as inferior.
