I missed the presidential inauguration two Fridays ago. On that day and at that time I was with a group of about 150 youths (Catholic Youths Organisation of Nigeria in Aguda, Surulere, Lagos) rubbing minds on how to take advantage of the new dawn. I told them:”Today, we celebrate the reality of a new dawn; today, for the first time in the history of Nigeria, a civilian president is peacefully handing over to another civilian president of a different political party.

The recent marriage of Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, to Lara Fortes five years after he lost his first wife, Clara, to cancer generated a lot discourse in the mass, social and online media.

Sometime ago, the photo of a young lady who hanged herself in an uncompleted building surfaced in the media. The accompanying story alleged that the she committed suicide because her boyfriend left her for another girl. Before then, there was a story of a male youth corp member who, either in anger, anguish or disappointment, committed suicide because his female friend got engaged to another man.

In marriage counselling, sometimes it looks like you are moving round in circles. The same issues crop up over and over again. This week I want to focus on some of these issues, based on recent experiences.
