The Wheat Farmers Association of Nigeria has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Flour Millers Association of Nigeria to fix the minimum price of wheat at N140, 000 per tonne.

The Catfish Farmers Association of Nigeria (CAFAN) in Oyo State has begun production of fish crackers as a local alternative to imported prawn crackers, a popular snack among Nigerians.

Most Nigerians consume crops like maize, groundnut and cassava, but unknown to majority these crops are susceptible to Aflatoxins, which are highly toxic to humans and animals. Aflatoxin is a poison produced by the ubiquitous fungus Aspergillus flavus that infects various crops in the fields and stores making food and feed unsafe. According to Scientists, consuming foods containing Aflatoxins can cause death both in animals and human. Aflatoxins are estimated to cause about 5 percent to 30 percent of all liver cancers especially in developing countries like Nigeria.
