NIM set to tackle leadership problem

In a bid to tackle leadership and management problem in the country, the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) has reiterated commitment to reinvent leadership in the young Nigerians

NIM stressed that lack of leadership qualities among Nigerians have been the bane of good management.
Speaking at a pre-conference press brief, the President and Chairman of Council, Dr Sally Nkem Adukwu-Bolujoko said the Institute organises various programmes geared towards the enhancement of management skills in public and private organisations and in Government of Nigeria.

Worried about the solution to management problem being faced by almost every discipline today, Mrs. Nkem stressed that leadership in Nigeria needs reformation to achieve the desire of the Nigerian people. However she added that the country needed selfless leaders and not self serving leaders.

According to NKEM , “ the Institute Organises annual young Managers competition which is aimed at developing the young managers below the age of 40 years in order to raise members of the management profession from time to time. .Dr. Nkem said the Institute train youths through a development programme designed to impart management skills in graduate during their service year to make them entrepreneurial and self sufficient.

She stated “I wish to reiterate our commitment and resolve towards human capital development in Nigeria”.
However, she noted that in order to encourage management expertise, the institute, at this year’s annual conference will be presenting a car to the overall winner for the just concluded 2010 competition which was held in August.

In the same vein, she seized the opportunity, to announce that this years annual conference which will be held at Abuja between 19th and 20th of this month has been titled “Re-inventing leadership in the 21st century Nigeria – The Management solution”.

The President has promised that the institute will continue until they realise their vision to be the source and symbol of management excellence and mission to remain the prime driver of management standards and values in all ramification.
