…demands refund of interest fee

A group of aggrieved women in Nasarawa who applied for the Women loan scheme championed by the first lady of Nigeria Aisha Buhari today staged a protest within Lafia metropolis, the capital of Nasarawa state to demand refund of the N2000 they paid for interest form.

The women accused the management of AMBA microfinance bank where they picked their interest form for the Aisha Buhari Women loan scheme of collecting N2000 from each person.
They alleged the sum cuts across over 30 cooperative groups comprising of 10 persons each, and resolved to embarked on the protest after they observed sabotage in the disbursement of the loan recently which they were not part of.
According to one of the protesting women Asebe Tanimu who spoke to newsmen, their exclusion from the recent disbursed loan triggered the protest for the management of the microfinance bank to refund their N2000.
She said ” our problem is that each woman in the group of ten have registered with N2000, which they suppose to pay us with N20, 000, but they said they can only give N10,000 to each in the group.
“We are saying no to that, our money most be paid in full since we are part of the scheme. It is about two years now that they have collected the money from us” she said.
Efforts to speak with the Management of AMBA Micro Finance proved abortive, as pressmen went to the Managing Director who was unavoidably absence.
