THE Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mr Ogbonna Onovo has ordered full scale investigation of the alleged invasion of the residence of the suspended Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Mr. Tunde Oladunjoye, by the wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Olufunke Daniel. Sources told Vanguard yesterday said the wife of the Governor has been invited to Alagbon Close next week.

Oladunjoye had in a petition dated July 26, 2010 addressed to the IGP and titled “Before My Obituary” narrated how Mrs. Funke Daniel visited his residence at Ijebu Itele with over 100 people including, police, SSS men, thugs, some top government functionaries and her press crew.

At the end of her “brief perilous visit, my Special Assistant on Political Matters, Mr. Rasheed Odunaiya was left bleeding from his mouth, leg and head from injuries inflicted upon him by policemen and thugs in the convoy, on the instruction of the governor’s wife.”

Impeccable sources told Vanguard yesterday that the IGP through the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, has instructed the General Investigations Department, Alagbon Close to step into the matter immediately.

The sources said about 12 fully armed detectives from Alagbon Close yesterday stormed the state and withdrew the file from the Ogun Police Commissioner.

The detectives were said to had also visited the SSG to Ogun State Government; Mr. Adegbemi Onakoya, allegedly to have accompanied Mrs. Daniel to Oladunjoye’s House, to invite him to Alagbon Close.

He was, however, said to be away in Abuja when the detectives arrived prompting them to leaving an invitation for him to report in Lagos.

Other letters of invitation of about 10 other people alleged to had accompanied Mrs. Daniel to Ijebu Itele were dropped at the Government House, Abeokuta with a top government official who received the letters on behalf of the invitees. The Governor’s wife and other invitees are expected to report to Alagbon on Monday.

But the State Police Public Relations Officer; Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi said he was not aware of the development, saying that he had been away to Ayetoro all day and as such was not aware.
