…plans workshop on herdsmen/ farmer conflict March 2018 during 38th AGM

ABUJA- THE Alumni Association of the National Institute, AANI, has commenced activities to mark 40 years of existence in 2019.

This was disclosed by the National Publicity Secretary, ANNI, Ogbonna Sam Onyeisi, while appraising the performance of the association in national building for 40 years and its impact.

In highlighting some of its contributions as an association according to Onyeisi, the association collaborated with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, to organise a conference on ‘Value Re-Orientation and National Development’ at Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, on December 3-6, 2017 and came up with ‘Abeokuta Declaration’ that will be made public soon.

He said the anniversary is worth celebrating and it would open a new vista for national integration and cohesion with renewed vigor based on activities the association will roll out to tackle challenges in development and smooth policy implementation.

He said: “The Alumni Association of the National Institute, ANNI, is a prestigious organization, with high repute and pedigree over the years, in terms of policy promotion and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, nation development and promoting, patriotism, sacrifice and national unity.

“We are think-tank to national development and deeply part of the country’s peaceful coexistence in all ramifications, hence its progress and stability with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Alumni Association of the National Institute, AANI, organized a conference on Value Re-Orientation and National Development at Obasanjo President Library, Abeokuta on December 3-6th, 2017 and came up with ‘Abeokuta Declaration’ that will be made public soon.”

On the raging herdsmen/farmers clash, the AANI spokesman said the association will in March 2018 organise a roundtable workshop that would bring on board all stakeholders to discuss on lasting solution to the protracted clash in order for herders and farmers to live in peace and productivity to boost food security.

“In middle of March, 2018, AANI is planning a ‘One-Day Workshop’ in Abuja on farmers/herdsmen conflict in continuation of AANI’s proposed regional conference as it sets to hold 38th Annual General Meeting.

“A national conference on ‘Education and Youth Development’ is also scheduled to take place in Kano towards the Middle of April, 2018.

“All these are to showcase the products of NIPSS for the 40 years of our existence as an association”, he said.
