Abuja—Senator Annie Okonkwo, representing Anambra Central, will on Friday, August 6, 2010, host a third Town Hall meeting in Awka, Anambra State
The interactive forum, which was initiated by the Senator, had been consistent since October 2007 when he was first elected to the senate and had served as a way of briefing, consulting and interacting with his constituents.
The Town Hall meeting over time, has proved very useful as a medium to make inputs into the Senator’s legislative activities as well as offer opportunity for the people to inform him of their needs and expectations.
Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Okonkwo, Mr. Tony Chukwuelue, said the upcoming Town Hall meeting will discuss issues of common interest affecting the people.
According to him, issues expected to top the agenda include insecurity of lives and property in the zone and erosion menace which is one of the biggest problems affecting the people of the zone.
Senator Okonkwo is expected to use the opportunity to give account of his stewardship to the Assembly, which will have in attendance traditional rulers, presidents-general of town unions, community leaders, the clergy, prominent citizens and major stakeholders from the zone.
