Owerri—The 2018 Imo State budget impasse, may have come to an end, following an announcement, yesterday, by the House of Assembly, that the Executive governor, Rochas Okorocha, will present the budget today.

The Speaker of the House, Mr. Acho Ihim, made this known to fellow lawmakers at plenary while reading a letter said to have been submitted to the House by the Secretary to government of Imo State, SGI. Mr. George Eche.
According to the Speaker, the letter stated that the Executive Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, will present his 2018 budget on 13th of December, 2017.”
It will be recalled that the budget presentation which was scheduled to hold on November 28, 2017, did not take place as lawmakers were not seen at the Assembly complex.
In another development, at the end of the plenary, the speaker announced that all the offices of the minority party had been scraped and that, henceforth, only the position of the minority leader would be recognised in the House.
However, this announcement for budget presentation came after almost all the principal officers of the House, said to have resigned their positions and substituted with those considered as Mr. Speaker’s loyalists.
Those affected were the, Majority leader, Mr. Lugard Osuji, Deputy Majority leader, Kennedy Ibeh and the Chief whip, Marcel Odunze.
