A would-be suicide bomber riding an explosive-packed bicycle has been arrested on the outskirts of Afghan capital of Kabul, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.

“Yesterday, Afghan National Police (ANP) arrested a suicide bomber with an explosive-rigged bicycle before he could reach his target in Chahar Asyab district of Kabul,” the ministry said in a statement.

It added that the timely police action foiled a terrorist incident in the city.

The ANP also seized a truck full of explosives over the weekend in Kabul, where over 150 people, mostly civilians, have been killed and over 200 wounded in a truck bomb blast months ago.
