WARRI—A Delta State High Court sitting in Warri, has frozen six accounts, in Keystone Bank Plc, bearing N2.2 billion of Chevron Nigeria Limited,  funded Itsekiri Regional Development Council, IRDC.

Trial judge,  Justice M. Obi,  granted the order after hearing Olukunle Edun and Sir. Peter Aihiokha, both counsel to Chief Rita Lori-Ogbebor and four other claimants in the case.

The court barred CNL from releasing funds to the IRDC pending the determination of the suit.

The court granted, “An order of interim injunction restraining the 1st defendant (Keystone Bank) by itself and/or through its privies or successors or officials and/or under any guise from releasing to the 2nd to 4th defendants (Chief Ayiri Emami, IRDC and Delta State Government), their agents, contractors, or anybody, any sum of money in any bank account opened or operated by the 2nd to 4th defendants with the 1st defendants.

The affected bank accounts includes accounts numbers  (1) 1000281200 (2) 1005511872 (3) 100095936 (4) 10009585546 (5) 1000879572 (6) 1324500090 (7) 1313000 are to remain frozen pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
