Dutse— House of Representatives member representing Malam Madori/Kaugama Federal Constituency in Jigawa State, Alhaji Yusuf Dumari, has said if the 11 suspended members apologise to the House, they may be forgiven.

Alhaji Dunari dropped this hint in Malam Madori while reacting to the recent fracas that rocked the House Representatives, stressing that there is no crisis in the House as it is being reported in most dailies.

According to him, a group of aggrieved lawmakers wanted to make the House rowdy, and the House decided that due process must be followed.

“After following due process, the House resolved that the aggrieved members should leave the House because they did not table their motion properly. Section 39 of the House stipulates that if they refuse to leave honourably they should be forced, and that was what happened,” Dumari said.

He further explained that it was the process of forcing them to leave the House that seemed rowdy as the members were not willing to obey, which led to their subsequent suspension till the end of the House sittings ending 2011.

Commenting on the allegations against the Speaker of the House of Representative, Mr. Dimeji Bankole, he said the aggrieved group are only being unnecessary mischievous, stressing that they did not follow the normal channel in putting forward their grievances against the Speaker.

He said, “Look, we have a procedure in the House. If they have a case against the Speaker, they never tabled it before the House. We only heard that some lawmakers have taken their grievances to EFCC.”
