The Western Marine Command of Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted 52 bags of cannabis sativa worth over N312.5million and imported poultry products estimated at over N2.7million within its area of coverage.
The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Command, Comptroller Umar Yusuf, made this known while displaying the seized items at the Command in Lagos, stressing that the Command is working very hard to curtail smuggling of prohibited items into the country through the marine region.“He said,
We also seized 826 furniture components smuggled into the country through the waterways between Nigeria and Benin Republic, with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of over N2.1million.
We seized 1,277 bags of foreign rice worth N98.7million. 438 used tyres smuggled in through Benin Republic worth over N2.1million were equally seized.
