NEW leadership of Izon-Ebe Oil and Gas Producing Communities Association, IOGPCA, has set for itself the task of ensuring that all International Oil Companies, IOCs, in Nigeria move their headquarters to their operational bases in the Niger Delta.
President of the body, Mr Edoukumo Timadimene James, stated this in Warri, Delta State, shortly after receiving certificate of return following election to pick new IOGPCA Executive Committee.
He said: “Virtually all IOCs taking oil from the Niger Delta are controlled from administration bases outside the producing environment. It is common knowledge that oil communities lose a lot from this anomaly. We are determined to cause a change to that.”
He noted that IOGPCA in his time would also see to checking abuse of the local content act to the detriment of oil communities, promising to reach out to oil producing ethnic groups to forge effective collective bargaining for maximum results.
Others elected into the new IOGPCA leadership include Tufa Solomon Zamakiri, Vice President, Lambert Bekezonlade Odudu, General Secretary, Koremene Richard, Public Relations Officer, Egware, Loveth, Treasurer, Ziware Loveday, Treasurer, Oturubo Gift Preye, Welfare Officer, and Misoro Alexander, Assistant Secretary.
