•As LSPWC embarks on Magado, Badagry, Idumagbo road rehabs

Members of Community Development Association (CDA), Jankara-Idumagbo, Lagos Island have commended Lagos State Government, through State Public Works Cooperation, LSPWC, for fixing deplorable roads in recent times, even as they appealed for the clearing of the drainage to ensure free flow of water to prevent perennial flood in the axis.

This came as LSPWC within the last two weeks, commenced construction of some major road networks at Isheri-Magodo in Kosofe Local Government area and other parts of the state.

Mr. Elemoro Martins, Chairman Jankara-Idumagbo CDA, made the appeal when he met with Special Adviser/Chief Executive Officer, CEO, (LSPWC), Engr. Ayotunde Sodeinde during an inspection tour of some road projects in the state.

Martins expressed worry over the continuous degradation of crucial roads in the axis, which he said posed threat to human lives, property, and commercial activities.

However, Sodeinde speaking on the on-going road rehabilitation project along Jankara market at Idumagbo Avenue explained that paving stones are being laid because of the soil texture as a result of high water table in that area.

On Isheri-Magodo road construction, Sodeinde disclosed that about eight road networks were being constructed within the axis which include; Olanireti Fasan Street, Babajide Awolesi, Muyiwa Alder, Joseph Ajayi, Kunle Kitan, Gbolahan Akinmuda, Sylvester Close and Yetunde Jimi Ahisu lane.

He reiterated the commitment of Governor Ambode towards ensuring that retirees live a comfortable life, saying “This area is inhabited by those who have served their fatherland and as such must be taken good care of” adding that virtually all these roads have been asphalted with about 50sqm left, hoping that in the next two weeks all the road projects will be completed.
