Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has distanced himself from political permutations in the All Progressives Congress, APC that have lately projected him as the new leader of the party in the South-west.

While admitting that the APC was presently in some form of difficult times, Governor Amosun said he was not ignorant of the fact that leadership does not come by conjecture or otherwise, saying he was conscious of the fact that leadership was rather earned than wished.

Amosun spoke against the background of insinuations that he is being projected to take up the leadership of the APC in the South-west in the face of difficult relations between the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and political associates of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Disclaiming insinuations of his desperation for power, the governor affirmed his complete loyalty to the party, the President, regional and national leaders.

Amosun first aligned with Buhari in 2007 when he contested the 2007 governorship election on the platform of the former All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP at a time the incumbent president was the presidential candidate of the party.
