DUTSE—Jigawa State’s local government contributory pension scheme has paid over N278.2 million to all categories of pensioners in the state.

Executive Secretary of the Board, Mr. Suleiman Kiyawa, disclosed this to newsmen in Dutse. He said the N278.2 million for the month of October was paid to all categories of pensioners, including the 126 that completed their 35 years of service or 60 years of age, who were paid N206.2 million.

He said: “The second category was those that could not fulfill the requirement to be paid full benefits, as it is required that each worker must contribute eight per cent of his salary for the period of five years. So in this case, it was only one person who received N153,000.”

He explained that the third category comprised those that died on active service, whose next of kin had to be paid.
