In view of the recent upsurge of overloading on the nation’s highways, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, will organising a Special Intervention Patrol, SIP, along critical corridors from November 7 to November 13.

According to Bisi Kazeem, Head, Media Relations and Strategy of the Corps, the Corps Marshal, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, has directed that the SIP will focused on overloading, speed violation and speed limiting device enforcement, amongst other offences.
Kazeem stressed that the Corps Marshal hopes to use the patrol to impress on field commands to sustain the enforcement drive on speed limiting device installation in commercial vehicles, continue the sensitisation on the Ember months campaign, and to reduce road traffic accidents caused by overloading and speeding.
According to Oyeyemi, the selected corridors for the SIP are Kaduna-Abuja-Lokoja-Okene; Garaku-Akwanga-NasarawaEggon-Lafia-Makurdi; Funtua-Tsafe-Gusau-Sokoto; Lagos-Ogere-Ogunmakin-Ibadan; Owo-Akure-Ilesha-Ife; Jos-Toro-Bauchi-Alkaleri-Gombe; Enugu 9th Mile-Awka-Nteje-IgboUkwu-Onitsha; Asaba-Isele Uku-Agbor-Abudu-Benin, and Jebba-Olooru-Bode Saadu.
