By Marie-Therese Nanlong

Jos—Elected chairmen, councillors and other senior officials of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Area Councils have been urged to be proactive, shun corruption and be judicious in using resources.

The officials, who are undergoing a three-day capacity building workshop, at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, near Jos, were equally challenged to ensure they maximised available resources to provide the needed infrastructure for residents of their respective area councils.

Addressing the participants at the opening ceremony yesterday, the Permanent Secretary, FCT, Dr. Ajakaiye Babatope, represented by Director of Finance, FCT, Hajia Amina Abubakar, disclosed that plans were underway to give full autonomy to area councils in the FCT and make them models for local government councils in the country.
