Compel DESOPADEC to pay us, contractors beg Okowa

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State

Some aggrieved Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC,  contractors have called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to compel the commission to pay their outstanding payments or they would start begging for projects to be funded, even when they have existing payment certificates.

In a statement by Mr. Harrison Omovie on behalf of the aggrieved contractors, they alleged that the commission was carrying out “selective payments not based on merit,” leaving them indebted to banks.

He said since the contracts were awarded in May 2014, “Although I had funds on my budget head, DESOPADEC has only paid me in percentages of 10 and 15,” urging the governor to intervene and save the contractors from further anguish.
